United Nations World Water Report 2015: "Water for a Sustainable World"

"Water is at the heart of sustainable development." Water resources, and the range of services they provide, underpin economic growth, poverty reduction and environmental sustainability. From food and energy security to human and environmental health, water has been shown to contribute to improved social well-being, affecting the livelihoods of billions. Progress towards achieving most of the Sustainable Development Goals requires significant improvement in global water management. The year 2015 marks a critical milestone on the road to sustainable development. As the Millennium Development Goals come to an end, a new cycle of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is gearing up to guide national governments and the international community in the quest to achieve a sustainable world.
